The energy of June and all of its sentiments can be felt at all ages… it’s an itch for summer, for change, for challenge, for newness… and those patterns and desires start young.
A few weeks back, I had the honor of chatting with a room full of graduating 3rd graders.
They were nervous to leave their “home away from home” after so many years…
They were excited to see what lies ahead.
They were scared about losing their friends or having their friendships shifted.
They were going to miss their old teachers and hallways.
They were hesitantly excited to see what the new set of big kids and teachers would have to offer them.
They were looking forward to cheering on their new mascots and correlating teams.
They were ready for their next chapter and yet anxious to turn the page…
Sound familiar?
The feelings in 3rd grade aren’t really any different from the ones we feel today… I bet as your read the list you were relating… feeling empathetic to those little minds!
Moving up ceremonies and this time of year remind us all of the places we can go… the hopes and the dreams.
The good habits and passions start young. Chances are if you really want to be a teacher in 3rd grade … you will be one! It’s one of those trades that seeps in early and is realized more often than the actor, baseball, singer phenoms…
Let the seasons changing, and the graduations, and the dream chasing reignite you a bit! As far as we know, we only live once… which means I need to write that 3rd book, you need to go on that trip, enroll in that course, send your resume in for that job… open doors, open windows, let the sunshine in.
Happy summer to all and congrats to all of the graduates- of any age! You never are too little to dream big!! And guess what? You are never too old to dream either.
