There are two kinds of professional people- soldiers and generals. It is essential to have both in order to run a successful business. Hiring managers know first hand that finding a tremendous candidate who is willing to roll up his/her sleeves, get work done, and shine- is priceless. Just because an employee is not cut out to be a traditional leader does not mean that he or she should not be rewarded for hard work, loyalty, and dedication.
I challenge people I meet to know their own worth. What does their job pay in their industry? What is their industry standard for raises? I remind them to partner with HR and stay invested in the teams and community around them. Just because their role is not for a “general” does not mean that they can’t shine as leaders in a hands-on position. Everyone is deserving of a voice in their upward mobility.
Truthfully, if an employee is good- they will be rewarded as they are integral to business being successful.
And of course, if someone works hard and is not recognized, it’s time to reach out to Choice 🙂
