Network the most when you need it the least…

Network the most when you need it the least…

A favorite Choice saying… One that Jamie coined years ago and we have all celebrated in almost every candidate conversation since its inception!

Just a quick note to all as we enter a month of being “mindfully thankful”. Sure, I have 10K connections on LinkedIn, but the best relationships are the ones that are carefully cultivated through the years with respect, patience, dedication, and loyalty.

Sometimes, I admittedly struggle to practice all that I preach to you… but networking- that I do and do often. I am never put out by silence and/or lack of response. I manage to be polite and just make an effort to stay genuinely aware of my client’s whereabouts, needs, professional wants, and day to day.

Looking at our monthly open hot jobs… as of today, 11/6/17, we are working on 17-20 positions. Here is an honest breakdown of where those roles/pipeline of open reccs come from:

  • 6 Clients from years ago that I have patiently stayed in touch with OR a long time and loyal relationship
  • 3 Clients I have worked with in 2 plus companies and I have followed him/her to their new place and he/she calls on me the minute it’s possible to hire from an outside resource
  • 2 Friend/Personal Referrals
  • 2 Clients that I lost all of my points of contact but I have stayed proactively in touch with all who were left behind
  • 2 My old candidates referred me to the hiring manager
  • And… get this. 1 Client that I actually cold called

In case you are checking my math, I am working on multiple jobs for certain clients… Regardless, the proof is in the pudding. In sales, in business development, in relationship based services- it’s not a race, it’s a marathon. And I am proud to be the tortoise… (slow & steady and NEVER giving up).
