Many people ask me how to prepare for an interview- what to bring, what not to, how to act, etc. While my answer varies depending on the specific role a person is interviewing for, here are my key must-haves for an interview… and what to leave at home.
LOVE IT:
- Copies of your resume tailored to the open position you are interviewing for
- Pen and paper to take notes.
- A professional and appropriate outfit.
- If it is a creative role, a portfolio should be accessible- read your audience. If they don’t seem like they want to see all of your work via an iPad, perhaps you should be ready with some traditional and relevant examples on paper.
- Patience, an open mind, confidence, and a smile 🙂
LEAVE IT:
- Preconceived notions.
- Bad energy.
- Your cell phone volume 🙂
