In our new social media series Choice Talks, we’ll be sharing some of our favorite quotes and pieces of advice that we always tell our candidates. Today we decided to switch it up and post an inspiring story from one of our candidates, and share her advice for others who are looking for something new! See below for Nicole’s story.
“I first heard about the Choice team through my sister in law who also used them to assist her in finding a career. Previously, I have not been happy with my careers and always loved the fashion industry. When she had success in finding something she liked, I ask her for the information so I can contact Choice hoping I would have the same luck that she had. When I e-mailed Choice to help me, Cassie was the one who I was assigned to. Every month I would read the emails to see if there was something I was qualified for or something that would interest me. Yes, there were a handful of jobs I either was not interested in or I didn’t meet their qualifications but that didn’t stop me from giving up.
After a few months, one of the monthly e-mails for jobs posted (I believe it was the October list) said executive assistant for a fashion company. I e-mailed Cassie my resume and told her I was interested in this position. She went ahead and forwarded my resume to the company. The process was very smooth and Cassie handled and helped me with everything from setting up interviews, giving me advice in what the company was looking for, any questions I had for Cassie, she was there to help! I went on two interviews for this position and after about two weeks, I received the phone call from Cassie saying how well everything went and PVH Corp. offered me a position temp to perm! I gladly accepted the offer and was concerned with a temp to perm being I wasn’t sure how long the temp position would last and my worry was not having any health benefits for my husband and I.
I started my assignment on November 1, 2016 and was offered a permanent position with the company on November 28th, 2016! For anyone who is looking for a new path, please do not give up on yourself! Just remember there is something out there for everyone and if you push yourself and believe in yourself, anything is possible! Yes, I know that is cliché but I was one of those people who thought, “why can’t I find a career I am happy with, why is nothing working out for me, when is it going to be my time?” I was not happy for a long time, but with the help of Choice and pushing myself to keep looking, I found a career I am very happy with and hope to see myself here for a very long time!”
