Friday Finds: July 13th

Narcissus Garden:

In the mood for an artistic experience? Check out Yayoi Kusama’s new interactive art exhibit. With 1,500 mirrored stainless steel spheres, you’ll never lose sight of your own reflection, hence “Narcissus Garden.” Located inside a former train garage in the Rockaways, this exhibit makes for the perfect weekend outing. You can head over any time between July 1st and September 3rd, free of charge Friday through Sunday from noon to 6pm.

The Highline Tour:

Most New Yorkers have walked The Highline, but few have taken advantage of the free tours that they offer almost daily. This Saturday, July 14th at 10am, head over to the Highline at Gansevoort St. for a free 75 minute tour to hear the story behind NYC’s park in the sky. The tour is led by knowledgeable volunteer guides who can offer you an inside view on the park’s design, history, and structure.

Creamistry:

This trendy ice cream chain just opened its first New York location last month! Creamistry isn’t just your average aesthetically pleasing ice cream shop… this ice cream is smoking (literally). Instead of using the traditional method, Creamistry makes their ice cream using liquid nitrogen, creating small billows of smoke and the perfect picture for your Instagram. Even better – they make the ice cream when you order, so it’s guaranteed to be fresh. You can choose from dozens of flavors, including chocolate-y candies, cereals, fruits, and nuts, and you also get to choose whether you want a cup, a milkshake, or even an ice cream sandwich. This place is guaranteed to be the talk of the summer.
